Late 2023 I was connected with New Zealand Fashion Week to take them through a brand refresh for the upcoming event in 2024. The two key objectives were to maintain familiarity whilst setting a foundation for the future, and create a design system that provides dynamic consistency.


The approach was minimal and bold, allowing imagery to be at the forefront when included but not being fully reliant on imagery to create visually engaging communications. A layout system based on a three by three grid allowed for contemporary compositions to be created even with minimal content and a new motion language brought another level of character to the overall identity.


We ended up with a comprehensive brand guideline that will enable NZFW to bring their event in 2024 to life across digital and physical touch-points.


Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances New Zealand Fashion Week had to change the event to a biannual showcase. Hopefully we will get to see the new identity in action next year.
